Fusion Cycling Club Dronfield

I think it's fair to say the meal was enjoyed by all how came along on Saturday night (5th Dec) to the Hearty Oak. The food was very good.

8 riders came out to play, including Ray who sems to have made a good recovery so far. But boy was it cold early on. Break out the thermals, Glovers and Woolly hats.

Jack Allison did a fine 1min 58secs to take a fantastic 2nd place in the Junior event. Steve Bramhall 2min 4 secs and Matt Williams did a 1min 53sec ride. Unfortunatly Matt Clewes who would have been riding his first event for the club crashed recently and has broken his collar bone. It was a very enjoyable event and the three riders flew the Fusion CC flag.

Jonathan, John and Matt rode the Cat & Fiddle challenge on the 4th Oct. They enjoyed the ride which took a little over 3 hours. A very well organised event . Pictres can be found on http://www.purepix.co.uk/catandfiddle09/index.html page 7

4 Fusion CC memebers rode in the recent (20th Sept) NMCF pooled club 25mile time trial. The fastest rider on handicap was Nigel Williams. Who did a fantastic ride of 1hr 1min 35sec. Especially considering he has only been with the club for a few months and this was his first event.

This Sunday (16th Aug) saw the best turn out for along time with thirteen riders coming along on the club run. It made for a really good mornings ride. Hope everyone enjoyed it and keep coming along.  

The form for the Pooled clubs time trial (20th Sept) has arrived. If interested in riding you need to get an enrty form to Matt or Trev D. ASAP.

Trevor and Matt endured torrential rain and cold temperatures on last Sunday's (7th June) Polkadot challenge ride. 100 miles over 16 climbs around Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire. "At  points on the course the water was so deep across the road your feet were in it". Lets hope for better weather next time. Links to photos Trevor, Matt 1, Matt 2. Matt completed the course in 7hrs 29mins.

After this years very enjoyable club weekend away. Nows the time to start thinking about what to do next year.

This Sunday's (12th April) new route through Elmton over to Thorseby and Clumber was a great ride and a well received addition to the Sunday run list. Any other ideas for different rides please make your ideas known for inclution on the next run sheet.

Finaly the mix up with the kit seems to be sorted and the factory have said they will despatch late April. Also many people are wanting to order new kit, if anyone has anything they want please speak to Matt. Plan is to place a new order this month.

Tuesday evening rides have now started for the summer, meet at the hearts of Oak 6pm.  Route via Calver & Frogatt

Approx 20 miles @ a brisk pace.

This years weekend away will be to Linton on Ouse near York. Trevor has booked the Guesthouse and needs the £15 deposit as soon as possible. If you want to come speak to Trevor. Plan is the ride up then either a ride in the Yorkshire Dales or North York moors. If you have any ideas again please speak with Trevor. Details

Trevor will be flying the flag for the club at the VTTA 18k time trial on the 14th of March, have a good ride. If anyone wants to give racing a go speak to either Trevor or Matt for details of events etc.....

Sunday mornings minus 5 degrees celcius, a tad on the nippy side, didn't stop a few hardy souls from taking part in the Club Run. 4 riders meet at Dronfield Woodhouse and rode to Hathersage Cafe, to warm up via Baslow and the Thirteen bends, where they meet up with Darryl. Cold hands and feet all round but a really beautiful morning.

Armstrong, Landis, Ivan Basso and other dubious chaps are making a comeback in 2009 (There is even a team daft enough to give Vandenbroucke a place), but the news sweeping the nation is the unconfirmed rumour that Mick Grindey is back on the road. Safe to say no failed drug tests or links to Operacion Puerto in the cupboard. Also it seems he has a Team interested as well.

Fusion CC was represented in recent Hill Climbs by Matt and Richard, see results page.  I would encourage anyone to give it a try, if not at least to watch especially at the Monsall event.  Great atmosphere large crowd PA system.
